St.Petersburg Arts Academy

The city of St. Petersburg has helped to produce many talented artists, sculptors and architects who have glorified the city’s name all over the world. Such famous figures include Arkhip Kuindzhi, Vasily Surikov, Peter Clodt von Jürgensburg and Alexandre Benois. So what better place for Russia’s main art school, the Academy of Arts, to have opened several centuries ago. It was known as the academy of three of the noblest arts: Painting, sculpture and architecture and is now called The St. Petersburg State Academic Institute of Fine Arts, Sculpture and Architecture or the Repin Institute of Arts. The institute continues to educate scholars just as it did more than 200 years ago. Here students have the opportunity study works of art and familiarise themselves with the work of renowned artistic masters from the past at the Russian Academy of Arts, a research museum. Host Rumiya Niyazova attended some classes at the academic institute, got to see the museum’s rarest artifacts and found out why the prestigious Russian art school holds such high recognition throughout the world.
