Alexander-Svirsky Monastery

In the northeast of the St. Petersburg diocese, near the border with the Republic of Karelia, stands the monastery founded 500 years ago by the monk Alexander Svirsky. Legend reads that he is the only Russian saint to have seen the entire Holy Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Ghost. It was the Lord himself who showed this «Abraham from the New Testament» where to first build a cathedral in honour of the Holy Trinity, and then - a monastery. For centuries people have travelled from different corners of the Earth to feel the power and holiness of this land and touch holy relics of Alexander Svirsky, this great man of prayer.
