Hunting and Fishing

Fishing by the Walls of the Peter and Paul Fortress

From the very beginning St. Petersburg was built as a window to Europe. An impenetrable fortress and a large port, Peter the First invested all of his strength and efforts into the city’s design and construction, inviting the best engineers in Europe to direct the project. After years of work, a breathtaking city rose on the banks of the Neva River, and today St. Petersburg is a true architectural and historical museum under the open sky. The fact that St. Petersburg is located on several different islands got host Andrey Ivanov thinking that the historic city centre itself would be an interesting and unusual place to go fishing. Many species of fish can be found in the Neva – St. Petersburg’s main water artery. These scaly creatures include perch, pike perch, roach, bream, smelt, lamprey and bleak. With world-renowned architectural monuments decorating the banks of the river in the city centre, fishermen have the opportunity to not only enjoy their afternoon activity, but also picturesque views of one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
