City of Motorcycles — Irbit

Freedom, speed and the road leading to the horizon — that's the magic recipe known to every biker, and it's the unofficial slogan of the Urals city of Irbit. For 70 years, Russia's most renowned motorcycles have been produced here. The history of motorcycle construction in Irbit began in 1941, when the Moscow Motor Factory was evacuated to this location in the Urals. And thus the Irbit Motorcycle Factory was born, and it produces «iron horses» to this day. The first motorbike to be produced here was the M-72, and it was designed to meet military needs. In 1957, the Irbit factory began the production of the Urals motorbikes for the general public. They were followed by an entire series of legendary machines: the M-52C and Strela-1 racing bikes, the experimental M-73, and many more. Today, the entire range of models at IMF is stored at the Irbit Motorcycle Museum. Host Alexander Uvarov find out which of the Urals motorcycling sportsmen is included in the Guinness book of records, tried tea from a motor-samovar and took part in the assembly of a modern Urals bike.
