Pancake Week at Taltsy Museum

Pancake, also known as Maslenitsa is one of the most popular holidays in Russia. It's always celebrated magnificently in Irkutsk. In Slavic mythology the holiday means separation of winter and spring. They don't abandon national traditions at the Taltsy Museum of Architecture and Ethnography by greeting bright sun with khorovods* and pancakes. The presenter Irina Pudova mastered stilts walking, learned how to make clay penny whistle and even worked in an ancient forge. *Khorovod is a Slavic art form, a combination of a circle dance and chorus singing, similar to Chorea of ancient Greece.
